150th Jubilee Celebrations

Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 19 – 21 March 2021

Thank you one and all who came along to celebrate 150 years of Hororata Primary School. The whole weekend was a great success.

The speeches were extremely enjoyable - thank you to Mr Gameson, (Principal) and Rod Oliver (Jubilee Chairman).  Our guest speaker (Shaun Clarke) and former pupil was totally engaging and the positive comments, which are still coming in, attest to this. We had an excellent Chairman, Rod Oliver who helped make the weekend Jubilee Celebrations so successful.

Thank you to committee members, Dee Oliver and Bridget Parsons. Dee got the Southfuels bbq under fire and cooked up the sausages on Friday night.  Bridget was a willing helper in all things Jubilee.

Thank you to Martin Bruce who cranked up his potato chip cooker for a tasty treat, and then played on his guitar for our Sunday morning Church Service.

Thank you to Pip Deans  and Sarah Oliver - great work with the lanyards and working with the registration.

Thanks to Sonia Booth and Lucy Cookson for their marvellous work at the Darfield Rec Centre, along with Cindy Driscoll who was there to pick up all the pieces. Thanks to Country Feasts, the most marvellous caterers, for our Saturday night dinner, and Lucy and Cindy also organised the Saturday night refreshments along with eftpos machines etc. Lucy also got the bread from Couplands and did the extra shopping.

Brian Hunt was tied up with a shoulder injury, however he provided a generous donation. Thanks to Tony Thwaites, who helped  willingly at school working bees voluntarily and called out the school decades along with Sarah Oliver.

Mr G, school principal, was part of the Jubilee Committee as well as organising all things school, which included ground beautification, cleaning of carpets and windows, organising sound systems, collecting and returning all manner of things, and all the other extras as well as media recordings and much more.

A big shout out to Roger Parsons  who helped get things under way.  You were missed Rog. And  Penny Oliver who had a finger in most pies!!
